Revisit February 28, 2009 - Ugyon Janiuaynon 2009

To all our Kasimanwa who can access this website, tulad nga adlaw, 28th of February 2009, ang selibrasyon ka UGYON JANIUAYNON here in East Coast- ang aton pagtiriringub tanan, kag para sa 2nd induction ceremony of our new set of officers & re-acquaintance party. This is a very special day for us officers of Janiuay Association of North America (JANA) to pledge our commitment in our new roles.  Gani naga pangayo man kami sang inyo nga pagsuporta sa association, para man kanamon nga mga bag-o nga opisyales kag sa tanan nga myembro naton giya  sa North America (& other parts of the world).  Ginapangabay namon for all of us to pray today for the success of Ugyon, our association’s immediate goals, our projects and our dreams to reach all our Kasimanwa kag makabulig sa pinalangga naton nga banwa sa Janiuay.
Our very own Fr Joe Cornelia from Arizona composed this meaningful prayer gid for all of us. We pray,

Almighty and Eternal God you know the longings of men's heart and protect their rights. In your goodness bless and watch over the leaders and members of JANA as we celebrate UGYON JANIUAYNON 2009 so through our efforts of all Janiuaynons here in the US and everywhere may enjoy freedom, security, unity and peace.

Lord pour out on us Janiuaynons the spirit of understanding, truth and peace.  Help us to strive with all our hearts to know what is pleasing to you, and when we know your will make us determined to it not only for the good of JANA and our respective families but for the good of every Janiuaynon around the world.

Heavenly Father, you guide everything in wisdom and love.  Accept our prayers of thanksgiving we offer for giving us Janiuaynons in this part of the world whose humble purpose is to unite and be of support to every Janiuaynon and every Filipino who are in need.

Loving Father listen to our prayers we offer for our Beloved Mother Town Janiuay; by the wisdom of our leaders and integrity of every Janiuaynon, may harmony and justice be secured and may there be a lasting prosperity and peace.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Salamat gid.

A blessed 2009 sa inyo tanan mga kasimanwa. Sa inyo tanan dyan sa East Coast thank you so much for your effort in putting up this website. I do greatly appreciate it. This will paved the way of uniting and interacting to all the Janiuaynons all throughout the globe (basta may dyan nga internet). Personally it make me even proud of my identity being a Janiuaynon (this as I read the history of Janiuay). More Power and praying that we will all be successful in every endeavor we have. God bless us all especially ang aton nga banwa JANIUAY.

hi, everyone,

very interesting ang maragtas kang janiuay especially how surnames came into being. now we know about tirador and catequista. what about mamon & estante, espada & escabarte, estandarte, etc? is there a story behind these surnames, too, ukon pinili lang out of a list provided by the spaniards? it would be good to know about this since ang janiuay is quite unique when it comes to surnames. sa iban nga banwa most surnames start with the first letter of the town's name. pinasahi gid atun banwa?

do we also have references about our revolutionary past- from the spanish colonization to american and japanese occupation? am quite sure our town was a major flashpoint in our ancestors' struggle to get rid of foreign domination and restore the freedom of their generation and the next. this revolutionary maragtas, i believe, will make us even prouder janiuaynons.
